About Ziggurat

After looking at what was available in the New Zealand market and seeing a pretty big gap, we were inspired to design our own version of the popular piece of children’s furniture.

The play couch has been embraced in countries around the world as a key addition to any family home - and we could see why. It has endless opportunities for imaginative play, but also is widely useful in developing gross motor skills in kids of all ages.

We started the design process with a belief that our customers would see value in investing in a product that would withstand the tests that their children put their Ziggurats to on a daily basis. Therefore our focus was, to produce a high quality product, made with high quality materials from the inside, out.

We then found a production team that produces high quality CertiPUR-US certified foams to make our Ziggurat for us. This included a full set of waterproof liners added to each foam piece for extra protection from spills.

Next it came to our covers. We tested out a range of different fabrics, and landed on our durable 270gsm polyester covers. We found this fabric was soft enough to provide comfort while still being resilient when building and playing - a win, win in our eyes. It was also easy to care for and machine washable.

With the colours selected for our core range, we added custom coloured YKK zippers to match, and handles to carry or drag the Ziggurat around by. Including one on the base that is shaped like a 'Z' for Ziggurat.
